Following our pick-ups, we head directly to the Yorkshire market town of Skipton. We drop off and park at the Castle, one of the most complete and best-preserved medieval castles in England. Where you can explore the impressive 900 years of rich history, which withstood a three-year siege during the Civil War and 1643-5. We head firstly to the castle entrance, where those wishing to visit the castle and join the Castle guided tour with free time included in the optional visit begin their tour. For those not visiting the castle, it’s Just a short walk from the Castle entrance to the famous traditional Skipton Street market. With a grand opportunity for free time to find a bargain or two and explore the local town with its many shops and enjoy some refreshment in the endless choice of tea shops and cafes.
Mid afternoon we re-join the coach at the castle coach park, and we make the short drive to the nearby Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway, where we join our 3pm return train journey. Afternoon Tea is served on board as we enjoy and travel through the Yorkshire scenery. After our Vintage steam train journey, we make our return home to Lincoln.
