Following our pickups we head directly to the Battlefield Line Heritage railway and Shackerstone station in Leicestershire. The Battlefield Line is the last remaining part of the former Asby and Nuneaton Joint Railway which was opened in 1873. It runs from Shackerstone via Market Bosworth to Shenton in Leicestershire and now operated by the Shackerstone Railway Society. This remarkable railway captures the very essence of a country line, with steam, diesel and railcar train services along a single-track line. Conveying the feeling and atmosphere of heady days past. You’ll be pleasantly surprised as one of Leicestershire’s best kept secrets, not just a train ride but a journey into history as well. Shacherstone Station is at the northern end of the line, with its headquarters, museum, Victorian tearoom souvenir shop, loco shed and main rolling stocklocated here.
We board our Lunch time train departure and enjoy our scenic nostalgic journey through rural England with a ploughman’s lunch and ice cream dessert served on board. Dietary requirements including gluten free can be catered for on request.
Following our visit, we make our way back to Lincoln with our drop offs enroute.
This trip is suitable for all ages, singles, couples and families.
