One night at the 4-star Winchester Royal Hotel with evening dinner and breakfast. Entrance to Highclere castle, exhibition and gardens. 

Accessibility. There are two steps into the hotel entrance, of which David Manning Tours will be on hand to lift lightweight scooters in. The hotel has ground floor rooms and is fully mobility accessible. Mobility scooters are not permitted into Highclere Castle. Only manual wheelchairs are permitted, with limited access to the upper floors. Upstairs rooms can be viewed from a laptop.


Hotel - The Winchester Royal is a regal 16th century 4-star Hotel located in the heart of central Winchester, only five minutes’ walk from the cathedral. With beautifully designed bedrooms, award-winning Garden Restaurant and stunning walled garden. With classic nods to the city and what was once the capital of England.


Room upgrades available - Standard rooms are included but for those that may wish to indulge on this tour there is the opportunity to spoil yourself with a room upgrade, subject to availability. If you request an upgrade please request with us at the time of booking.

Day 1. Following our pick ups we make a morning coffee stop. Continuing through Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire to our Lunch stop and time to explore at Bicester Garden centre. After lunch we continue down into Hampshire and to the medieval city of Winchester. Home to King Alfred the Great and the ancient Kingdom of Wessex. We arrive our hotel late afternoon, with some free time to explore the city before evening Dinner is served.


Day 2. After a hearty breakfast we checkout and make a short journey to the famous Highclere Castle, more recently famed for being the home of Lord Grantham in the TV drama and films of Downton Abbey. With approximately four hours to explore at leisure the castle, the gardens and the Egyptian Exhibition as well as taking in some tea and light refreshment in the tea shop. We depart mid-afternoon and begin our journey home with a dinner stop enroute.
