Three nights at Hotel Oude Abdij, Breakfast, two evening dinners, Visits to Brugge, Chocolatier, Ypres & Menin Gate ceremony Euro shuttle crossing.

Day 1
We depart early morning and begin our journey with the various pickups, taking a comfort stop before  heading south to Folkstone where we join our train for our crossing over the channel on the Euro shuttle. Arriving in Calais early afternoon we travel through France and on into Belgium to our hotel for the next 3 nights, at Hotel Oude Abdij in the lovely peaceful village of Lo-Reninge. This character hotel built in the site of a former monastery. Dinner included.

 

DAY 2   
After breakfast we travel to the beautiful Flemish city of Brugge. Due to restrictions in the old town, we drop off at the riverside coach park where a short walk takes you into the heart of this old beautiful town. A great opportunity to explore this beautiful city, its water ways and canals, sights, ancient buildings and squares, eateries and shops. Made famous for its lace, chocolate, waffles and beer. Along with the seasonal Brugge Christmas market known locally as the Winter Glow festival. The two Christmas Markets in the city centre are beautifully decorated embellished. Full of atmosphere and inviting seasonal handcrafted gifts, decorations, foods and beverages.  We depart early evening and return to our hotel. Dinner included.  
 
Day 3  
After breakfast we visit a local chocolatier, where we learn about the craft of the Belgium chocolate making, as well as enjoy some sample tastings and an opportunity to purchase a gift. We then head to the Tyne Cott memorial for a short visit before continuing to the centre of Ypres, where we spend the remainder of the day in and around the walled city of Ypres locally known as the city of cats. free time here to explore the city and its shops. We certainly recommend visiting the famous Cloth Hall, where you can learn about this beautiful Flemish city, and its destruction during World War one along with its rebuilding. Please note evening dinner today is not included, enjoy the array of choice for restaurants and eateries available within the city centre prior to the 8pm short daily evening ceremony at the Menin Gate. We depart and return to our hotel following the ceremony.

 

Day 4   
After breakfast we check out and begin our return journey homewards via the Euro shuttle, with time for some duty-free shop before boarding our return train. Arriving in Folkstone mid-afternoon and begin our return to Lincoln, with comfort stop enroute and making our drop offs on the way, arriving back in Lincoln late evening.

 

The planned Channel crossing on this tour is via Euro shuttle. However, should issues arise beyond our control the channel crossing may be changed to a ferry crossing in extreme circumstances. This may also affect the planned tour timings.

 

  • A full valid passport (with a minimum of six months validation left) is required for this tour.
  • Travel insurance is compulsory on this tour. We recommend purchase of this once we confirm that we have enough passengers to ensure the tour runs.
