This 4-night Welsh holiday based at the 4-star Royal Victoria Hotel in Llanberis includes half-board accommodation, all excursions, and train tickets. You will experience three iconic railways: the Snowdon Mountain Railway with its stunning peaks and cafe stop, the Llanberis Lake Railway, and the Ffestiniog Railway from Blaenau to Porthmadog. Additionally, enjoy free time exploring Caernarfon’s historic 13th-century castle before a 25-mile scenic journey on the Welsh Highland Railway.
Day 1.
We pick up our passenger’s early morning and with a comfort stop enroute we head to the historic cathedral Roman city of Chester on the river Dee for are lunchtime stop. It features the most complete city walls of Britain and the Rows, 700-year-old Tudor-style galleried shops. With an array of shops and eateries to enjoy. We continue our journey and arrive Llanberis where we take ride on the lake railway. Before arriving for a late afternoon check in at our Hotel, the Royal Victoria late afternoon.
Day 2.
After a full Welsh breakfast, we take a short walk to the Snowdon mountain railway station. Following a short film, we join our train and make our journey as the traditional diesel pushes the train up to the top of the mountain. You’ll experience awe-inspiring views and uncover the mountains hidden secrets, from viaducts, waterfalls and gorges to the remnants of abandoned farms, chapels and medieval settlements. You have short stop at the top where you can take a short walk to the peak or enjoy some refreshment in the café area. We make our return journey down.
Day 3.
After breakfast, today we head to the small town of Blaenau, where we board the Ffestiniog railway for a return journey to Porthmadog. As we follow the path of the old slate trains as they took their loaded wagons to the harbour at Porthmadog. With some free time to explore and purchase lunch before we make our return journey.
Day 4.
After breakfast we take a scenic drive to the royal town of Carnarvon with some free time to explore the historic walled town with its narrow streets and the mighty 13th century castle and UNESCO World Heritage site. After lunch at will we travel on the Snowdonia Star Welsh Highland railway to Porthmadog. Traveling 25 miles coast to coast across the foothills of Snowdon to its destination. A dedication to the volunteers who rebuilt the line. we rejoin our coach and return to Llanberis.
Day 5.
Following breakfast, we depart our hotel and make our return journey with comfort stop enroute. we return to Lincolnshire late evening.
Your hotel the 4-star Royal Victoria, uniquely located at the foot of Snowdon within 30 acres of gardens and woodlands. Overlooking part of the UNESCO World Heritage slate landscapes on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park. Just a few minutes’ walk from the centre of Llanberis. All rooms are ensuite with TV, tea & coffee making facilities and hairdryer. The main hotel building has a lift to all floors.
Limited mobilities. Please note that mobility scooters will be required to be stored on the hotel ground floor. Accessible rooms are available, step-in shower availability is limited, with most rooms being a shower over bath. Mobility access to the heritage trains may at times be limited.
