Enjoy a 4-day escape starting with lunch in historic Worcester before arriving at Minehead's 3-star Northfields Hotel. Discover North Devon’s "Little Switzerland" with a ride on the famous water-powered cliff railway between Lynmouth and Lynton. Relax in Minehead or take an optional heritage steam train excursion featuring a traditional onboard cream tea. Finally, journey home via Gloucester's historic cathedral and Beatrix Potter sights, returning to Lincolnshire by mid-evening.
Day 1.
Following our pick-ups with a comfort stop enroute we head to Worcester where we take our lunch stop. With its magnificent medieval cathedral dominating the skyline. Medieval architecture, Historic streets with preserved Tudor timber-framed buildings, historic pubs and eateries, and its pivotal role in the English Civil War. We arrive the 3-star Northfields hotel Minehead late afternoon, to a welcome tea or coffee. Hotel Dinner included with tea & coffee served in the lounge.
Day 2.
After a hearty English breakfast, we travel over into North Devon where we visit Little Switzerland as it was known by the Victorians. We drop off at the lower harbour village of Lynmouth, with the upper village of Lyton being accessed by the cliff railway. A historic water-powered funicular takes just a few minutes and offers exceptional views. With plenty of independent shops cafes and restaurant to take lunch in. As well as visit the Lynton museum, view the grand town hall and explore the many art and craft shops. We return to the hotel mid-afternoon. Hotel dinner included with tea & coffee served in the lounge.
Day 3.
Today we take a relaxing Sunday morning breakfast. Enjoy the hotel facilities and the town of Minehead at will. Or join us on our optional excursion aboard the West Summerset railway where we take cream tea aboard as we travel along this scenic heritage country branch line of over 20 miles. With a short stop at Bishops Lydeard before commencing our return journey. Cream tea served onboard is included in this nostalgic journey. Hotel dinner included with tea & coffee served in the lounge.
Day 4.
After breakfast we depart Minehead and make begin our return journey, taking an early lunchtime stop at the city of Gloucester. With an opportunity to visit the historic cathedral, view the many timber framed buildings and visit the charming House of the Tailor of Gloucester, made famous by Beatrix Potter. We make an additional late afternoon comfort stop enroute to Lincolnshire. We return to Lincoln mid evening, with our drop off’s enroute.
This trip is suitable for single travellers, couples, groups, families and for those with limited mobility abilities. The hotel has a lift to all floors and easily accessible rooms.
Your hotel. The coastal hillside hotel on the edge of the Exmoor National Park, sitting on the lower slopes of North Hill, surrounded by some two acres of landscaped gardens. With sweeping views of the coastline, the Quantocks, the Brendon Hills and Exmoor Lifts to all floors. All rooms are tastefully decorated with comfortable beds, ensuite bathrooms, TV, tea and coffee making facilities.
Day 3 Optional excursion £48pp: Includes a full-length return journey on the West Somerset Railway with over twenty miles to Bishops Lydeard with cream tea served on board.
Mobility scooters, wheelchairs and walkers are limited and must be booked on at the time of initial booking.
