Day 1 – Durham & Alnwick

Following our morning pick-ups, we head north to the historic city of Durham, home to one of Britain’s most magnificent cathedrals. Explore the atmospheric city, with its 11th-century Norman cathedral, UNESCO World Heritage status, independent shops, indoor market and tempting selection of cafés and restaurants. Fans of Harry Potter may also recognise the cathedral from the films.

We continue to Alnwick, arriving at the White Swan Hotel during the afternoon. Settle in, relax and enjoy your first evening, with dinner included.

Day 2 – Seahouses, the Farne Islands & Bamburgh Castle

After breakfast, we head to the picturesque fishing village of Seahouses, where we board our morning boat for a spectacular 90-minute cruise around the Farne Islands. Keep your eyes open for thousands of seabirds, including terns, guillemots and eider ducks, alongside Atlantic grey seals. With luck, you may even spot dolphins!

This afternoon brings a visit to magnificent Bamburgh Castle, perched dramatically above the Northumberland coastline. Discover more than 3,000 years of history, explore the fortress, admire spectacular sea views and uncover tales of Vikings, knights and legends.

Day 3 – Alnwick Garden

Enjoy breakfast before spending the morning at the extraordinary Alnwick Garden. Discover the mysterious Bamboo Labyrinth, venture into the fascinating Poison Garden, admire the Grand Cascade and wander through the beautiful Rose Garden.

The remainder of the day is free for you to explore more of the gardens, visit the attractive town of Alnwick or discover Alnwick Castle (castle entrance not included). Dinner is included at the hotel.

Day 4 – Holy Island & Lindisfarne

Today we cross the famous tidal causeway to Holy Island, also known as Lindisfarne. Explore this fascinating island at your own pace, with entrance to the atmospheric 12th-century Priory ruins included.

Discover St Mary’s Church and see Lindisfarne Castle, dramatically positioned on a volcanic crag. With its ancient religious heritage and spectacular coastal setting, Holy Island is a truly memorable place to visit.

Day 5 – Ripon & Home

After breakfast, we leave Alnwick and begin our journey home, stopping at the historic cathedral city of Ripon. Explore its charming streets and magnificent cathedral before continuing our return journey to Lincolnshire, with drop-offs en route.

Enjoy four nights at the comfortable White Swan Hotel, with en-suite bedrooms, comfortable beds, television and tea and coffee-making facilities. Please note that the hotel does not have a lift; ground-floor rooms are available and are accessed through the hotel garden. The hotel is cashless

Each passenger may bring:

• 1 standard-sized suitcase or bag for the coach luggage hold
• 1 small hand luggage bag for the overhead luggage rack

Wheelchairs and mobility scooters can be accommodated subject to available luggage space and must be requested when making your booking, so we can make the necessary arrangements in advance.
